Protecting Mental Wellbeing

Population Outcome: People in Suffolk and North East Essex have Good Mental Wellbeing

Physical and mental wellbeing are closely linked. Having good mental health is as a state of wellbeing in which every individual realises their own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

Our Ambition

What we know matters to people and why

What matters?Why?
I can maintain the relationships important to me and build new onesReducing social isolation means I can build positive relationships with supportive people.

If my wellbeing is good, I can better support my family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
I have help with the factors that cause stressRecognising and responding to the impact of social, financial and environmental pressures on my and my family’s life, helps me and my family to stay mentally well.
I can experience natureAccessing the outdoors helps to protect both my mental and physical ill-health.
I experience kindnessActs of kindness benefit me and the people I help, or who help me.

Acts of kindness create greater trust between people and communities.

How will things be different in Suffolk and North East Essex

We will support people who are at risk of ill-health because of the cost of living to access welfare benefits and grants. We will encourage people to access the coast and countryside more cheaply and easily.
We will support people who are socially isolated through free and low cost opportunities to meet and build relationships. We will co-produce campaigns to encourage a culture of kindness, understanding and tolerance in society.
