ICS ‘Can Do’ Health and Care Awards 2025

Our second Suffolk and North East Essex ICS ‘Can Do’ Health and Care Awards took place in July 2024, and the winners were announced at our awards ceremony at Newmarket Racecourse. The awards were a huge success in highlighting the extraordinary achievements of individuals, teams and collaborations across our health and care system.
We wanted to recognise, commend, and share the excellence within our health and care system in Suffolk and North East Essex. Successful 2025 nominations exemplified the practice that we wanted to encourage throughout our system, which demonstrated the impact of innovative person-centred approaches, in partnership with people, communities and organisations, that will take forward our ‘Future Shift’ vision and strategy.
Each category in the Suffolk and North East Essex ICS ‘Can Do’ Health and Care Awards 2025 was judged by a panel which included a majority of people with relevant lived experience, and our Supporting Young People Award was judged by a panel of local young people.
Finalists were invited to join us for the ICS ‘Can Do’ Health and Care Awards 2025 event on Friday 4 July 2025 at Rowley Mile Racecourse, Newmarket. Winners were announced in a special ceremony, with trophies given out to winners by some familiar faces. Information about all our winners and finalists are below.

The nomination process was open from 9:00am on Thursday 27 February 2025.
All nominations were to be submitted via the www.letstalksnee.co.uk/can-do-health-care-awards-2025 online nomination form. Supplementary information cannot be accepted. Nominations must meet the award criteria for 2025 and fall into one of the above award categories.
Nominations would only be accepted through this online form. For assistance with completing the form please read the 2025 Award Nomination Guidance document and the Terms & Conditions.
On submission of your form, you will receive a receipt acknowledging submission and a copy of the form.
Nominations closed at 5:00pm on Friday 2 May 2025 and nominations will not be accepted after this time.

A photograph of all finalists will be required. You must obtain permission of the person(s) in the photograph for its use. Photographs may be used alongside information about our winners and finalists which will be published on the ICS website. They may also be used for wider communications including press releases to local media.
All nominations received will be reviewed by the ICP team to ensure they are eligible, and all satisfactory nominations will go through to the judging stage.
For each category there will be a judging panel comprising 5+ judges. Each judging panel will include:
- an independent chair.
- majority of members with relevant lived experience.
- representatives of at least three local health and care partners.
- stakeholders who are geographically representative from both Suffolk and North East Essex.
- a facilitator from the ICP secretariat team.
The three criteria against which nominations will be judged are:
- WHY they are nominated
- what did they do? how did they do it?
- why is this relevant to the award category?
- HOW are they exceptional
- have they gone ‘above and beyond’? (This may be in a paid or unpaid role)
- have they transformed health and care in some way?
- WHAT impact have they made
- what difference have they made to people’s lives?
- what evidence is there of the difference being made? (Evidence may be stories or data)

All nominations must be submitted via the online nomination form, no later than 5:00pm on Friday 2 May 2025. All nominations received will be initially screened to ensure that they include the following minimum criteria:
- they are nominations for one specific category only.
- they have been submitted only using the nomination form – supplementary information cannot be accepted (Nominations excluded at this point will be notified and given the opportunity to resubmit should time allow).
For each category, all members of the judging panel will receive a copy of every eligible nomination form received for that category.
Individual panel members are asked to read and review every nomination received.
Prior to the meeting of the judging panel each member should arrive at initial marks for each nomination, rating each criterion between 1-10 using the scoring sheet provided.
Judging panels may meet either in person or online. Each judging panel will be facilitated by a member of the ICP Secretariat team to ensure a consistent approach.

At the judging panel meeting, all members collectively review nominations and agree consensus scores across three criteria. Nominations will be ranked in order of their total score. The panel will determine an overall Winner and Runners Up and record the reasons for their decision. The panel also has discretion to agree a small number of Highly Commended and Commended certificates from the remaining nominations.
Winners will demonstrate exceptional achievements that have made a transformative impact on the health and wellbeing of local populations or the workforce. They have taken a person-centred, inclusive, and collaborative approach to their work, shown creativity and imagination, and valued everyone involved as equal partners. They can demonstrate how they have actively involved local people and communities and applied best practice.
Runners Up will demonstrate achievements that have made a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of local populations or the workforce. They have taken a person-centred, inclusive, and collaborative approach, shown creativity and imagination, and valued everyone involved as equal partners. They may demonstrate how they have actively involved local people and communities and applied best practice.
Highly Commended nominees will demonstrate achievements that have had a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of local populations or the workforce. They have taken a person-centred, inclusive, and collaborative approach, shown creativity and imagination, and valued everyone involved. They may demonstrate how they have listened to local people and communities and applied what works.
Commended nominees will demonstrate achievements that have had a positive impact on to the health and wellbeing of local populations or the workforce. They have taken an inclusive and collaborative approach, shown creativity and imagination, and valued everyone involved. They can demonstrate how they have listened to local people and communities and applied what works.
