Shared Care Record (ShCR)

What is the Shared Care Record (ShCR)

The ShCR brings together your most important information from health and social care partners. Visible to frontline health and social care colleagues at the time of care in a read only format. The technology that enables the Shared Care Record is known as the Health Information Exchange (HIE).

Benefits of the ShCR

Having a Shared Care Record in place will allow them to see relevant information about your care and treatment, you have had across all services so that they can make a more informed decision.

The Key benefits of the ShCR are:

  • Reduces the burden on clinicians and staff so they can focus on people
  • Enables people to have the tools to access information and services directly
  • Ensures information can be safely accessed, wherever it is needed
  • Aids the improvement of patient safety across the NHS
  • Improves workforce productivity with digital technology
