21 Suffolk and North East Essex ICS | ‘Our Journey Together’ Investing in new technology Investing in technology enables the system to move from analogue to digital, embracing advanced technology and new treatments within a unified structure to deliver a more responsive, equitable, and patient-centred healthcare system that serves the entire population. Working as an Integrated Care System has made a significant contribution to digital developments that have had a direct impact on ways of working and delivering care in a number of areas: • Shared care records, including the Shared Care Record (ShCR) and My Care Record, are accessible to all major partners, and a plan is in place to add future data and additional partners. • The Digital Social Care Record and interoperable Social Care Integration Platform are now accessible to over 85% of care providers. Going forward more sensor-based care technology will support residents in the prevention of falls. • ICS system-wide strategy includes a centralised dashboard and aligned system response. Suffolk and North East Essex ICS achieved the joint highest score for Safe Practice within the ‘What Good Looks Like’ Frameworkxxix for its Cyber Security Incident Response. Investing in the workforce Growing capacity and skills in health and care means investing in the workforce. Apprenticeships have been a great opportunity for investment in Suffolk and North East Essex. The Centre of Excellence for Health Apprenticeships (CEHA), a partnership between further and higher education providers and local Integrated Care Boards, provides apprenticeship progression routes from levels 2 through to 7, and has become a ‘one-stop-shop’ for learners in the region. Apprenticeships include a diverse range of career paths, including in early years, nursing, paramedics, clinical associates, radiography, midwifery and dental technicians among others. West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, alongside West Suffolk College, supports potential applicants pre-apprenticeship to improve their literacy, numeracy and language skills. The East of England is historically an “under doctored” region, so East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust now offers Medical Doctor Degree Apprenticeships to create opportunities for those who may otherwise not have applied.
