24 Suffolk and North East Essex ICS | ‘Our Journey Together’ ICS actively worked towards achieving parity of esteem and a balance of powers between health and care partners to build trusting mutual relationships with opportunities to meet in one another’s worlds. An ambition in Suffolk and North East Essex ICS, was to ensure the VCFSE sector has parity with statutory local government and NHS partners. VCFSE partners have been increasingly involved in planning and developing ICS strategy and services at local neighbourhood, alliance and board level. The Integrated Care Partnership agreed a strategic ambition to enable a “resilient voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector”, which led to the development of the ICS VCFSE Resilience Charterxx. The Charter was co-designed by system partners, with over 100 people from 59 different organisations contributing to the process. The Resilience Charter supports collaboration, transparency, and commitment to shape the funding environment and sets out eight principles to guide working together. Suffolk and North East Essex ICS has also worked to develop closer, more integrated working between health, social care and independent social care providers. This sector has worked to achieve greater professional curiosity to identify and manage risks together with people, carers and partner agencies, and better continuity of care when people move between settings. Regular participation in Suffolk Care Association Conferences by NHS staff, and a place for independent care providers on the Integrated Care Partnership Board have strengthened this relationship further.
